Tours

Day 1: Arrival Day

Meeting with the representatives of (Free Spirit Tours) at Tbilisi international airport, transfer to the hotel. Check-in in the hotel.

Overnight: Tbilisi

Day 2: Tbilisi City Tour

After breakfast in the hotel we will start our tour by visiting old Tbilisi, to visit 13th century Metekhi church, with the equestrian statue of the city’s royal founder standing above the steep cliffs of the Mtkvari River. The church has been destroyed many times by the enemy. Afterwards enjoy the opportunity to travel by cable car and reach the great monument of the Mother of Georgia. Then descend from the mountain, through the narrow streets to the Narikala Fortress, from there you can enjoy amazing view of Tbilisi. Then we will walk to the Tbilisi Mosque which was built in XVI century, then have a walk to visit famous sulfur bathes and waterfall in the heart of city.  Continue to 7th century Sioni Cathedral, it is considered one of the most sacred places in the country, since it houses the holy cross of St Nino, the young woman who converted Georgia to Christianity in the early 4th century; Sioni was the only active church during Soviet Occupation. We visit 6th century Anchiskhati Basilica, the oldest church in the town. After that we will go to a restaurant for lunch.  After Lunch we will continue our tour to Tbilisi Wine Museum – Samples of Georgian wine with eight thousand years of cycle are presented in the hall. Namely, artifacts found during archaeological works, which prove oldness and uniqueness old Georgian Qvevri. Here are demonstrated key archeological and ethnographic items related to Georgian winery: bowls, wine dishes, ritual dishes, Qvevri, Tamada, wine, grape pip, etc. Then drive  to famous Rustaveli street, on our way we will see the Rustaveli’s  theatre, old opera and house of parliament   then we will go to a restaurant to have dinner, after we will go to the hotel.

Day 3: Tbilisi – Sighnghi – Bodbe – Tsinandali – Telavi

After breakfast in the hotel we will make check-out and head to the Kakheti region, the cradle of Georgian wine. Firstly, we will visit Bodbe monastery, which takes a special place in the spiritual life of Georgia. The church holds relics of St. Nino enlightener. There is a one of the most famous icons of Georgia – Virgin ” Iver “. Then we will head to wonderful town of Sighnaghi where winding streets and architecture of the 18th century create a charming atmosphere. From the slopes of the hill on which is Sighnaghi, offers a magnificent view of the Alazani Valley with its orderly rows of vineyards. After that we will go to a local restaurant for lunch and wine tasting. Then we will head to Telavi.  On the way visit to Tsinandali home-museum of Alexander Chavchavadze famous Georgian writer. We will walk in famous English style garden then we will have tour in museum. Hotel check-in, then we will go to a restaurant to have dinner.

Day 4: Telavi – Vardisubani – Gremi – Kvareli  - Tbilisi

After breakfast in the hotel we will make check-out and start our tour in Telavi, the administrative and historic center of the region. We will see the small charming streets of old Telavi and have a photo stop at the monument to King Irakli II. Then we will visit a family in Vardisubani village which make ‘qvevri’, Georgian clay vessel to keep wine. . Then we will head Gremi, historical citadel and Church which was built by Georgian king in 1565 year. After visiting Gremi we will drive to Kvareli to visit a unique wine cellar “Khareba” located in the tunnel carved out of the rock. Originally built for military purposes, today the tunnel is used to store Khareba’s finest wines. Wine tour and wine tasting. Lunch in the restaurant.  Return to Tbilisi. Dinner in restaurant.

Day 5: Departure Day

Transfer to Tbilisi International Airport.
